for young people who have experienced one adult hurting another adult in their home
WHO WE ARE
SPACE is designed specifically for young people who have experienced one adult hurting another adult in their home (often called domestic abuse). It focuses on:
Ensuring young people know they are not the only one to have experienced hurting at home.
Giving time for young people to be themselves, to have fun and to try out new things.
Providing opportunities for young people to work through their experiences if they want to.
To be referred to the service the young people must be aged 9-16 and living or going to school in Bedford Borough.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
A Tiny Success
This summer we returned to The Manor House for another Tiny Festival! The sun shone as the young people created slime bubbles, designed graffiti, swam, baked chocolate cake and played uno. Our youth focus group "Sun" were involved in the planning of this years festival and helped make it the best year yet.
Neptune also had their residential over the summer - they chose to attend the Frontier Centre and had the opportunity to try fencing, archery and a zip line. The group also enjoyed playing 45 and in in the dark! A big thank you to Bedford Councils Youth Empowerment Fund for making the trip possible!

OUR PROVISION
SPACE: PLANETS
Our SPACE youth club 'planets' takes place over a fortnight at various locations in Kempston. There are 10 young people and two or three staff members in each group. At each session there are tutors running workshops and you can choose to join in with activities such as art, music, sport, cooking or science... or you can just hang out with friends or do your own thing.
THERAPEUTIC GROUPS
Sometimes it is nice to be in a small group and work towards something together. This is an opportunity to build friendships with other young people.
THERAPEUTIC SPACE
Are you struggling with something? Do you want to come to SPACE but don’t feel ready or able to? Do you get angry and don’t know what to do with it? You may need a little time and space. We can come to school, spend time with you and give you the chance to be in control of what you want to do.
HOLIDAY CLUB
Our holiday activities take place during the Summer Holidays and involve a full day of activities.
SUN
Sun is made up of one member from each of our Planets. Each planet chooses their own representative. SUN meets monthly to talk about SPACE; what is good and not so good, they also help us plan for the future.
